This is great little phone. I have had this for a few weeks now and I must say I am very happy with it. It has all the usual features found in a PDA like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Windows Mobile6 operating system, a 2 MP Camera etc and a great big screen. But the phone is extremely slim (Slightly thicker than a couple of credit cards) and fits in well in your palm.

You can connect the phone to you PC using Microsoft’s Active Sync and keep everything up to date.

It has the HTC’s new TouchFlo interface which lets you use your fingers to swipe through the various applications and functions. This is one of the best features on the phone.

The lack of the physical keyboard is compensated by the onscreen keyboards and keypads, but the best is the Handwriting recognition interface which works brilliantly and I have never had to use the onscreen keyboard.

In all a compact and stylish little phone packed with great features.

This is a great phone.

I’ve got a weakness for cool gadgets, especially phones and have had a few touchscreen phones that were just impractical and too bulky, so I was hesitant to get this one. But then I saw how slim it was, and a few videos of how the TouchFLO worked and I didn’t stand a chance.

One thing worth noting is that the TouchFLO interface is kinda wasted, it’s just a bolt on to get you started using the usual Windows Mobile system, but there are a few programmes available online that go a bit further using a similar interface, which really does enhance the phone further.

Another bugbear is texting, it ships with every input interface Windows mobile usually does, except the phonepad, which is the most useful one. However, again with a little browsing on the internet you can find it free to download.

The camera’s 2 megapixel and decent enough, though kinda eclipsed lately by alot of newer phones.

It’s not a 3G phone but is WiFi enabled which works well, I’ve only used Internet Explorer which comes with it, but Opera mobile is said to work alot better.

I’d really recommend it. Despite it being a year or so old now and a bit eclipsed by some of the newer and flashier phones I’m still sticking with it, which really does say something about it.

i have now had this phone on t mobile for 3 months. it is by far the best phone i have ever had.

i agree about the internet explorer. i have downloaded Opera mobile. It is far superior to the Microsoft one.

I must admit that when I first got this phone I was not totally impressed, but after over a year of use, this phone has become an essential part of my life.

The touch flo software has made the phone very user friendly and is a huge improvement over the standard Microsoft U.I. The screen is bright and crisp and the internal speaker is great for hands free use.

Making a call is simple as the alpha numeric keypad can be used to access your contacts, and call reception is good.

Battery life also seems to hold up well even when the little phone is used for Satnav and Multiedia use. I love to watch films while traveling and you can watch a couple of movies and still have 1/2 the battery left.

Considering the relatively low powered processor the phone seems to manage all tasks quickly enough, playback of Divx movies played on the free and excellent TCPMP movie player is surprisingly flicker free.

The phone is let down by the low memory capacity, satnav software will take up most of the phone’s memory. I have had to re-install programs in differing order in order to fit my most essential software on-board, but I’ve managed it. I currently have my device running Co-Pilot and the new Opera 9 browser, even though the latter often requests more memory. If you consider the plus points of having such a useful and versitile device in such small form factor, the positives definately outway the negatives.

In summation this phone does everything it is supposed to do and does it well. It is a discreet yet powerful work tool. HTC have hit on a winner here.

I recently got a touch Pro as a replacement and have found myself switching back to the Touch as it by far a more practical and reliable device.

As other reviewers have said, this is more of a PDA than a phone and the phone capability is merely one amongst the myriad of functions it offers. Like most of Jack of All Trades it is not really a master of any of them but it does a workmanlike job of dealing with them all. Being a Windows based device allows it access to a wealth of third party software to expand its’ capabilities still more.

The device looks great, small and attractive with an excellent build quality. The HTC Today screen looks good and this leads us on to the the iphone like ‘Touchflow’ interface. On first sight this is good, big icons for the main functions of the phone that roll up and rotate to the (three!) sides of a cube at the touch of a finger. However, ‘Touchflow’ is very much a sexy skin that sits atop of the Windows Mobile 6.0 body. You are back to the usual Windows Mobile screens when you select the ‘Touchflow’ option you want and have to give up up using your finger in favour of the stylus.

There is a tiny and delicate chrome strip which you pull aside (if your can) to reveal slots for the MicroSD card (supplied) and SIM card. Due to the possibly fragile nature of the strip this is a task best attempted as infrequently as possible.

It works well as a phone, but the lack of a conventional keyboard means heavy phone users may well want to look elsewhere. It has an excellent hands free capability and it was the work of a moment to synchronise with with my Parrot RNB car hands free kit.

The camera is a good as you have a right to expect in a phone, likewise the video. It connects instantly to my wifi network, can send and receive email, browse the internet, and with the right software can even be used as a SIP or Skype phone. With a bluetooth receiver it functions well as a GPS navigator.

The Good:

Sleek and sexy appearance

On board wifi and bluetooth

Windows Mobile 6 OS

Good build quality

Good camera

1 Gig memory card supplied

The Bad

Slow in use

Poor access to SIP and memory cards

Lack of keyboard and buttons

Power switch recessed too well

Uses non standard headphone socket

Need to use a stylus to access beyond top menu level.

Screen hard to read in sunlight

If you are looking for a small, sleek and sexy wifi PDA with a built in phone and have the time and inclination to explore all it has to offer then the Touch is a worthwhile purchase.
