I recently got an HTC Desire as an upgrade and as soon as I received it I noticed that instead of including a proper charger in the box they put a usb to power socket plug for the data cable. This is quite disappointing from HTC as the data cable is much smaller than you need for a charger and is also thicker.
This charger came in a retail box (even thought it was not sealed but it looked okay). On the charger is says “Phihong” and HTC. After google-ing it I found out that it is the company that makes the chargers for HTC but am not really sure about that! Even thought the charger looks genuine and it comes in an HTC labeled retail box.
It really fits for the purpose I needed it for as the cable is now long enough like other chargers and I have a single piece of charger instead of the three pieces provided one. I am really satisfied and if you also find annoying the provided charger I recommend going for another one. I am not sure if you really need a genuine one, as the point of having a micro usb charger is to be able to use any micro usb cable to charge your phone, or transfer data etc but having a genuine one provides you with an extra security that you wont damage your precious phone!

Good charger which came in original HTC packaging & seems to be the cheapest around. When my battery hits 20% or less i plug it in & it charges my HTC Desire in around 2 and a half hours when the phone is switched OFF. I keep this charger in work as a spare (main charger kept at home) as anyone who has these phones knows how quickly the battery runs down. This saves the need for carrying 1 charger to & from work all the time! My Desire needs charging every 1 – 2 days. That’s the only downside to what is an excellent phone.
