Released on: 10/11/2009 The HTC Hero will be offered for a reasonable $179.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate. Be aware, however, that the smartphone requires a plan with unlimited data. The good: The HTC Hero offers a highly customizable user interface thanks to HTC Sense. It also improves on past Android devices with Outlook e-mail, calendar, and contacts synchronization, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 5-megapixel camera. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support are all onboard. The bad: The smartphone can occasionally be sluggish. Flash content didn’t always work from the Web browser. Apps must still be downloaded to the phone’s internal memory. Media syncing software would nice, as would be a file manager.
With PocketShield “Proximity” Edition you can have a 100% automatic lockscreen. You don’t need to slide nor touch your screen at all. As soon as no object is close to the sensor it will automatically unlock. Only supported for HTC TouchPro2 and HTC HD2.

The good: The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8350i offers Direct Connect push-to-talk capabilities as well as integrated Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. The Curve 8350i also brings an updated OS, a full HTML Web browser, and more advanced multimedia capabilities. The bad: The BlackBerry Curve 8350i can be sluggish at times and we had problems sending e-mails. The bottom line: Nextel customers looking for a full-featured smartphone with the carrier’s famed Direct Connect push-to-talk capabilities will be well-served by the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8350i.

Phone Arena reviews the RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 for Verzion Wireless. It is the second generation BlackBerry with a touch-sensitive screen, successor of the highly-anticipated Storm. The keys on the front are now touch-sensitive as well, and the screen no longer uses the SurePress technology, which made the display of the first Storm uncomfortable to use. The Storm2 also adds Wi-Fi, but the other features are similar and include a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and a full HTML browser. For our full text review click the following link. www.phonearena.com
